Uber Partners With Adani Group

Ride-hailing giant Uber is expanding its technology footprint in India with a major infrastructure investment. The company has partnered with Adani Group to establish its first data centre in the country, signaling Uber’s growing confidence in India as a global innovation and technology hub.

The announcement was made by Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi following his meeting with Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

Uber Strengthens Its India Technology Strategy

Sharing the update on social media, Dara Khosrowshahi said India is rapidly emerging as one of Uber’s most important innovation centres globally. According to him, the new data centre will help Uber test, scale, and deploy advanced technologies from India for global operations.

“As India fast emerges as a leading innovation hub for Uber, we are setting up our first data centre in the country with the Adani Group to test and deploy our technology,” Khosrowshahi stated.

He further added that the facility is expected to become operational later this year and will support Uber’s global technology expansion plans.

The announcement comes during Khosrowshahi’s ongoing India visit, where the Uber chief has been meeting policymakers, business leaders, and industry stakeholders to strengthen the company’s long-term investment roadmap in the country.

Adani Group Expands Digital Infrastructure Ambitions

For Adani Group, the partnership aligns with its aggressive expansion into digital infrastructure and AI-ready data centres through AdaniConneX.

The conglomerate has been rapidly building large-scale data infrastructure projects across India as demand for cloud computing, AI processing, and localized data storage continues to rise.

Earlier, Adani Enterprises partnered with Google to develop what is expected to become India’s largest AI-focused data centre campus in Visakhapatnam. The proposed AI hub is expected to attract investments worth nearly $15 billion between 2026 and 2030 and will include advanced AI computing infrastructure, subsea cable connectivity, green energy systems, and large-scale energy storage facilities.

The project is being developed in collaboration with ecosystem partners including AdaniConneX and Airtel.

Why Uber’s India Data Centre Matters

Uber’s latest move reflects a larger trend in India’s digital economy, where global technology companies are increasingly investing in AI infrastructure, cloud computing ecosystems, and localized data hosting capabilities.

India’s rapidly growing internet user base, booming startup ecosystem, and government push toward digital sovereignty are making the country a strategic destination for global technology infrastructure investments.

The increasing need for localized data storage and AI-ready computing facilities is also accelerating growth in India’s data centre industry, with companies racing to build scalable infrastructure for future AI workloads and cloud operations.

Uber setting up its first Indian data centre highlights how multinational technology companies now view India not only as a massive consumer market, but also as a critical base for innovation, engineering, AI development, and global-scale technology deployment.

As AI adoption and cloud computing demand continue to rise globally, collaborations like the Uber-Adani partnership could play a major role in shaping India’s future as a global technology and AI infrastructure powerhouse.
