Rupinder Pal Singh of Seasia Infotech. .

Tell us about yourself?

As you are already aware, I am the co-founder and CEO of Seasia Infotech. We started the company back in the day when entrepreneurship wasn’t even a thing, and it fills me with immense pride to see all the heights the company has achieved over the years.

Talking about my educational background, I attended the London School of Business, and Punjabi University. After spending some time working as the Head of Automation with NABARD, I knew I wanted to build a sustainable company that will help me impact the world positively.

My company, Seasia Infotech, is more or less that dream brought into existence. When not working, I enjoy spending my time playing golf or just relaxing in the outdoors.

Other than managing day-to-day global operations at Seasia, I also serve on the board of several institutes, organizations, and corporates in the region. You might also find me speaking at various academic and industry events occasionally.

What lessons has being an entrepreneur taught you?

Entrepreneurship is a very rewarding and challenging experience in every sense. I truly believe that there are some lessons that only this path can teach.

If I had to pick a few of all the lessons entrepreneurship has taught me, I’d list realizing the importance of adaptability and persistence above all else. I learnt how important it is to be adaptable and able to pivot your business strategy as needed.

Whether it was changing our service offerings or adjusting our marketing efforts, you learn to find the best way out of every challenge that comes your way. I also learnt that being persistent always goes a long way. When you keep going even when things get tough, you become unstoppable.

If you could go back in time to when you first started your business, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

If I had to give only one advice to my younger self, I’d ask him to stay focused and persistent. Starting and running a business can be a challenging process, and it is important to stay focused and persistent in order to achieve your goals.

The best path forward is setting short-term and long-term goals and working towards them consistently. I would also add being flexible and adaptable as an underrated skill.

A lot of entrepreneurs find it difficult to balance their work and personal lives. How have you found that?

There’s no denying that personal lives of entrepreneurs often suffer because of the significant time commitment running a business requires.

Most of us don’t even realize how important it is to prioritize our personal and professional lives both in order to maintain a healthy and fulfilling life.

Setting boundaries, prioritizing tasks, delegating effectively, taking breaks when required, and seeking support at the right time are some of the practices that have helped me immensely in finding a balance that works for me.

Give us a bit of an insight into the influences behind the company?

Oh well, there were several influences behind the company. I always wanted to work on myself, and when I realized that the IT industry had room for improvement in many areas, I grabbed the opportunity.

I started Seasia Infotech with the goal of fulfilling promises and building long-term relationships.

I was motivated by my love of programming and the belief that the increasing functionality of smaller screens would drive the need for digitization.

Put simply, I followed my heart, and the results are for everyone to see.

What do you think is your magic sauce? What sets you apart from the competitors?

One thing that sets Seasia Infotech apart from other companies is our strong commitment to getting things done. We have just the right balance of experience and enthusiasm that allows us to approach projects with both patience and determination.

Our market segmentation is unique, and we have a strong reputation for being reliable and supportive of our customers.

Our testing processes and learning programs in areas, such as artificial intelligence, natural language processing, machine learning, robotics, and blockchain give us an edge over our competition.

Additionally, we view our clients as partners rather than just customers, and we make an effort to understand their needs while going above and beyond to meet their expectations.

Our business model also adds value to our clients’ projects, as we treat them as if they were our own.

How have you found sales so far? Do you have any lessons you could pass on to other founders in the same market as you just starting out?

Sales is an exciting domain. Fortunately, we have seen a steady increase in demand for our products and services, and we have been able to effectively meet the needs of our customers through our strong focus on innovation and customer satisfaction.

This, paired with successful marketing and sales strategies has immensely helped drive growth for our company. A lot of founders, when focusing on client retention, make the mistake of turning a blind eye on their mistakes.

I am of a different opinion here. As we, as a company, take full ownership of a company’s performance, we don’t refrain from pointing out the faults in their existing strategies.

That would be my one advice to new founders too. Honesty in business goes a long way and rewards you in unexpected ways!

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far in your business, and how did you overcome it?

The pandemic was extremely difficult for everyone, and there have been many challenges that we have had to face.

One of the biggest challenges was transitioning to a remote working environment and streamlining our operations, but thanks to the hard work and cooperation of our team and good decision-making from management, we were able to navigate these challenges successfully.

In addition to these challenges, it was also important for me to find ways to support the mental health of my team during such a tumultuous time.

Despite all the personal struggles that our employees may have been facing, they never let our clients down. Overall, I am proud of how we have come through these challenges as a team and emerged stronger.

What do you consider are the main strengths of operating your business in India and the specific state you are in over other states in India?

I would have answered this question very specifically a decade ago, however, the development in technology and the improvement in infrastructure makes it easy for us to operate in Punjab as seamlessly as in any other state in India.

What (if any) are some weaknesses of operating your business within India and your state?

Like I mentioned before, even if there is any difference in operating a business in another Indian state, it is unnoticeable. The infrastructure and facilities are at par with any other state.

Moreover, we have a rather inclusive team of employees. Skilled individuals from all corners of the country work together to take Seasia to greater heights every day.

If you could operate your business in another state in India rather than the State you are in, which state would it be and why?

We are very comfortable operating Seasia in Punjab, and there’s nothing I’d want to change about it. We have received enormous support from the locals too in running operations smoothly, and it is an honor to be able to operate here and give back to the society.

India has an incredibly diverse population. How has the affected your consumer base and business?

There are several perks and disadvantages of operating in a country with such a diverse population.

While some look at the language and cultural differences as potential barriers in operating or running a business smoothly, I look at them as opportunities for segmentation, allowing me to tailor our products and services to specific groups of customers.

However, I must also add that since most of our clients come from outside India, the diversity in population doesn’t affect our consumer base or business much.

Infrastructure is really important to businesses. How have you seen India’s infrastructure improve recently? Do you see new opportunities opening up?

Oh yes, that’s right. It is rather well-known that India has been working to improve its infrastructure in recent years, with a focus on building new roads, airports, and ports, as well as improving the country’s power and telecommunications infrastructure.

These infrastructure improvements are certainly helping stimulate economic growth and development by making it easier for businesses like us to operate and for people to access new markets and opportunities.

What do you want to accomplish in the next 5 years with your business?

Our main focus during the next five years would be on continuous improvement and striving to be better than we were the day before. In another few years, we plan to expand in manpower as well as into new markets to add more services to our offerings.

We also aim to establish a stronger presence in North America, where most of our clients are located, and to open offices in other regions such as East Asia, Europe, and the Middle East and North Africa.

The long-term goal of Seasia Infotech is to empower businesses through digital means, and everything we do here is a step forward in that direction.

We aim to become the world’s most trusted enterprise development company in the next few years, and a leading name when it comes to working on the latest technologies.

India has recently imposed some relatively high tariffs. Has this had an impact on your business? Do you support the tariffs?

Seasia has always believed in contributing to the government’s efforts in making India a global superpower.

The tariffs haven’t had an impact on our business as such, and I happily support them as long as they are benefitting the masses and helping streamline business functions for the companies in India.

And finally, if people want to get involved and learn more about your business, how should they do that?

If somebody wants to get involved or learn more about Seasia Infotech, they can always contact us on LinkedIn or through our website.

All the contact channels too have been mentioned on our website. Even though it’s not possible for me to attend to all the queries personally, we make sure someone from the company reaches out at the earliest.
